Octopus locomotion

Octopuses control their incredibly complex bodies without crashing their internal computer (their brain). To do this, they simplify certain aspects of how they move. We can apply these lessons to soft robotics.

Octopus interactions

Octopuses need to interact to mate, but they also tend to eat each other. To manage this conflict, they use various levels of social recognition and learning.

Octopus defenses

Octopuses use camouflage as their main defense, but this is less effective when they need to move. Some octopuses have evolved back-up behaviors, like bipedal locomotion or mimicry, to use when camouflage might not be effective.
